Health and wellness
Youth strive to become mentally and physically fit individuals through nutrition education, gardening, and physical education.
Healthy communities are created when kids and adults have access to nutritious food. In Cook Club, youth learn about healthy lifestyles, experience healthy eating options, and advocate for their own wellbeing.
Our weekly food distributions provide over 1,000 community members with the staples of a balanced diet and workshops reinforce healthy eating habits. Proper nutrition allows for kids to live up to their full potential.
In an urban, industrial environment, EOBA's organic garden gives youth access to a space where they can experience nature. In Garden Club youth learn teamwork and collaboration as well as skills like transplanting, compost maintenance, pest monitoring, pruning, and much more.
The Urban Fresh Gardeners program allows youth to learn about business skills.
Physical activity is a key part of a holistic approach to health. Youth at EOBA participate in daily physical exercise as well as Boxing Club, Karate Club, and Dance Club.
Our boxing gym is open to youth ages 5-20. Youth receive free instruction in boxing by our coaches.
