SmartMoves encourages community involvement by engaging families, schools, peers, and community members in the education of its young people and is designed to create a pathway for EOBA youth to achieve success both academically and socially. SmartMoves will be partnering with Sylvan starting in April 2010 to provide qualified youth (youth who attend a Supplemental Education Services “S.E.S” qualified school) additional one-on-one and small group academic tutoring.

This is a mandatory program for all youth participants ages 5-13. Academics is integrated with hands-on enrichment activities. Programs include:

   * Tutoring and mentoring
   * Arts and crafts
   * Health and nutrition
   * Organic gardening and cooking
   * Computer skills
   * Physical education and fitness
   * Snack
   * Lunch (summer program only)
   * Field trips
   * And more

The EOBA/ SmartMoves Program is a free after-school and summer youth development program for youth ages 5-20. Participation in the SmartMoves Program is mandatory for any youth ages 5-13. Programs foster diversity, experiential, and hands-on learning in a safe, engaging environment.

SmartMoves focuses on building self-esteem through youth development activities that link academic support with mentoring, art, nutrition education, gardening, community service, field trips, and physical education for youth ages 5-13.SmartMoves is a mandatory program for all youth ages 5-13. Older youth have the opportunity to participate in SmartMoves as Aspiring Youth Interns.
The SmartMoves Education and Enrichment Program offers hands-on, cross curricular activities for youth 5-13.
